Horses, as feeling creatures, tend to reflect their humans mood, thought and subconscious. There are no masks or 'pretend' with a horse - they see through us with no judgement, only feeling. While our horses at Park Horse Project are especially good at providing a 'reflection,' each horse has his or her own special spirit and movement that benefits the therapeutic process.
Alex moved to Park Horse Project after his owner passed away. He seemed shy at first, taking refuge in the shadow of the taller, more flashy bay Arabian that he arrived in with. He started to yield to our attention, growing more social, running towards us instead of afar each day. His gentle intelligence and candid demeanor made him a perfect candidate for therapeutic work. He is a small snowball of a horse, a cute Gray Arabian gelding with poise and good ground manners. Alex gives the impression that he is smiling from within, and his positive reflection lends peace of mind to those who partner with him.
Alex reminds us that our goal is to win within ourselves. To do the best that we can today and tomorrow even better. Our work with our horses identifies what needs tending to in our lives. There is no such thing as being stagnant when with such a mindful creature. We are working towards a more peaceful destiny.

Cicero is a rugged, robust and stout black and white cowboy paint. His presence conjures images of 1970-80s era Cowboy Westerns. He could just as easily be running through the badlands of New Mexico at sunset with an outlaw on his back as he could be at our side calm and grounded ready for his next mount.. He loves having a job and knowing that his purpose is taking care of his rider. He is our reminder that the time is now and to take nothing for granted.
Fabio is a delectable bite-sized black and white pinto mini. A luscious mess of long, dark periphery overwhelmed him. His mane had a life of its own, much like his namesake, the bodacious Fabio whose golden locks adorned the cover of hundreds of 1980s romance novels. His mane was too heavy for his slight stature. We have relieved him of the excess weight of hair, revealing a happier, lighter and more fabulous Fabio than ever.
Fabio is quite the distinguished gentleman. His ground manners make him an ideal candidate for trips to hospitals, college campuses or for a children's literary program in which kids will be encouraged to read to him. This type of reading to the minis' program is not yet offered, as we focus on the main aspects of our program.
Fabio loves to be included in the conversation. He is an excellent listener!
Fabio teaches us not just how to listen, but how to be heard!

Jackson is one of our minis, little stature with a Big personality. He is our mischievous pint sized pinto served with extra fluff. He knows how to mind but temptation is lurking around every corner. The green grass calls to him, and the mares are always hankering for him. He is an affectionate flirt whom fancies himself as a regular Casanova. He has no idea that he is smaller than the other horses in the herd. He struts his stuff for the mares, charms his way into their hearts while stealthily stealing their lunch.
He reminds us that there is a wealth of experience just waiting for us and all we have to do is arrive. The pattern of thoughts we choose to entertain and focus on, shape the quality of our lives. Think big! Dream big! Other people's opinions about you are their problem. . . Because at
the end of the day you're still going to flirt with the big mares and charm them while stealing their hay!

Ranger is a shiny silver strand, a bullet of symphonic movement. He is one of our tallest horses with the most humble nature. HE IS LARGE AND STRIKINGLY GORGEOUS. His hoofs beat the rhythm of your heart while his stride carries a melodic cadence. People are drawn to his beauty and strength.
He is all about respect. He is respectful of his people and expects the same from them. Together Ranger and his rider build trust through expressions of respect.
Trust is not a matter of technique, skill or tools but of character.
Ranger reminds us that it's what inside that counts . The Quality of one's character resonates through the soul and into the flesh.
